Ingredients: 100% yellow tea.

Huo Shan Huang Ya is a relatively rare yellow tea from Huoshan County, located in western Anhui Province, in the Dabieshan interior. It was once an imperial tribute tea offered to the emperors, which dates to the Ming Dynasty. Huo Shan Huang Ya tea is made through a unique process involving the special step of “heaping” and is only slightly fermented tea.

Only the tips of the tea leaves are picked - it’s standard practice to pick one bud with one leaf or one bud with two unopened leaves. The dry tea leaves of this finished tea are yellowish green and have a shiny appearance, which is very similar to Huang Shan Mao Feng tea.

When steeped, the tea has a very peppery and fresh taste as well as an unusual bright yellow-green color. As with most bud teas, the color and fragrance are slight. The first infusion is sweet, mellow, smooth, and thick; from the second infusion, the taste gradually becomes fresh and brisk, like green tea. Combining the flavors of sweet, mellow yellow tea and brisk, fresh green tea, Huo Shan Huang Ya is a good choice for lovers of yellow and green teas.

Brewing instructions: Use approximately 2.5 grams of tea leaves for every 250 ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 80°C for 3 minutes.

Keep in an airtight container, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
